My over-sized waistcoat for cold mornings in fall and spring

I'm pretty much sensitive to cold especially on cold mornings in fall and spring. In winter i'm very very sensitive to cold and all day long but that's not what I want to talk about today.

I'v got a very pretty black woolen jacket which is normally perfect for those foggy mornings. As it has been given to me by my mom I will not complain a lot but still it's got 3 major disadvantages : it has 3/4 sleeves, it's short (for me it means that it doesn't cover my butt) and it's not warm enough for me... So I look out for a solution allowing me to wear it without becoming blue like the Smurfette.

For my arms, I bought 2 pairs of very long gloves : one in black wool and one in brown leather. For the heat and my back, here comes the miracle I called the over-sized waistcoat (on the picture of this post). I bought the magazine which still costs 7.50€ especially for that pattern.

You can notice that I will still be blue when I'll wear my waistcoat but it will no longer be on the face.

he pattern is really simple because it's composed of 2 rectangles with buttonholes. The pattern includes 7 button holes. As I really loooooooooooooooves making buttonholes and sewing buttons, I followed one friend's piece of advice and made 2 more buttonholes on the back... so that I won't be cold in the back. It was a really good advice because the waistcoat doesn't fall from my shoulders thanks to the buttons.

I've chosen a brighter blue than the one of the magazine without lighter blue button for the contrast. My mom made the buttonhole contours with white cotton.

If I had to redo one, I forget the buttonholes and I sew the 2 pieces together and the button on top of it. By the way I think that I'll end up sewing the pieces of this one because the buttons won't stay in place.

The magazine is full of interesting patterns in garter stitch which is normal because it's a special garter stitch. As I don't like knitting in ribbs i'm gonna immerge myself into it... is I'm not back in 2 days just call the police !!!
